Just getting started

Why so long?

It wasn’t “I will publish an article only when I have something interesting to say” that held me back from blogging. It was more of

“will it make sense to me even tomorrow?”.

I graduated from that to jotting down my thoughts on Google docs. To my delight, some of the stuff made sense even when I read it months after writing.

Career or self

Other point that held me back was if I should write about stuff which is more in line with my career interests or my general interests. I’ve decided to go for the latter for now — solely because it would be too much of a hassle to maintain two blogs. I could just tag the articles which should help relevant readers to relevant articles.

So some of my articles will be related to my career/business — most likely not in first person. And some will be about my thinking — hopefully in first person.

Dense or elaborate

How long should my article be? a question which has held me in my steps quite a few times. My writing style could be very dense at times. I could write an article which could be considered too short for SEO but fine enough (I think!) to put my point across. There was no way for me to test if that made sense to anyone else.

After reading Ali Messe post I came to a decision to write as short or as long as I think is needed to make the point and ignore SEO. Even if it’s a one-liner I’ll aim to write it — if needed I’ll further add an elaboration post to it.

So before getting hit by analysis-paralysis, off to publishing my first few articles.
